Our Story
Built from Lived Experience, Not Theory

At J'Hesperus, we believe education has the power to transform lives. But we also understand that for many students in Myanmar, pursuing an international education can feel overwhelming. Limited access to reliable information, unfamiliar application processes, financial concerns, and uncertainty often stand between talented young people and the opportunities they deserve.Our organization exists because we have experienced those challenges ourselves. J'Hesperus was founded not on business theory, but on lived experience; the journey of overcoming obstacles, navigating unfamiliar systems, and discovering that with the right guidance, ambitious students can build futures beyond borders.

Built from Lived Experience, Not Theory
Experience That Shapes Our Standards

After completing Japanese language school, Thwe earned a degree in Business Administration from Tokyo Keizai University, where she became the first international student leader in Professor Seki's seminar, leading collaborative projects with both Japanese and international students partly supported by JICA. Following graduation, she joined Fast Retailing, the global company behind UNIQLO as a new graduate, gaining firsthand experience in one of Japan's leading international corporations. These experiences shaped the values that define J'Hesperus today: professionalism, integrity, cross-cultural understanding, and a commitment to helping students develop not only academically, but personally and professionally. Our role is not simply to help students enter schools in Japan. It is to prepare them to succeed once they arrive.

Experience That Shapes Our Standards
Why We Founded J'Hesperus

During the COVID19 pandemic and the political crisis in Myanmar, countless young people faced uncertainty about their futures. Watching these challenges unfold, our founder recognized a growing need for something more than traditional education consulting. She realized that Myanmar students did not lack ambition. They lacked access to trusted guidance, experienced mentorship, and clear pathways to international education.

That realization led to the founding of J'Hesperus Education in 2022. From the beginning, our vision has been to become more than a study abroad agency. We strive to be a lifelong education ecosystem by helping students make informed decisions, prepare for life overseas, and confidently pursue their academic and professional goals. Today, we have proudly supported more than 1,500 Myanmar students on their educational journeys to Japan and continue expanding opportunities for the next generation of globally minded leaders.

Why We Founded J'Hesperus
The Meaning Behind Our Name

The name J'Hesperus is inspired by Hesperus, the North Star, known as Venus. For our founder, the North Star became a quiet symbol of hope and direction during some of the most uncertain moments of her own journey. It represented the belief that even when the path ahead was unclear, there was always light to guide the way.

That meaning continues to inspire everything we do. Every student's journey is different, but no one should have to navigate it alone. At J'Hesperus, we are committed to being a trusted guide by helping students move forward with confidence, discover new opportunities, and build futures that reach beyond borders. Your dream. Our commitment. Your future begins with J'Hesperus

The Meaning Behind Our Name
The Journey That Inspired Our Mission

Our story begins with our founder,  Thwe Thet Htar San, who grew up in a small town in Myanmar where opportunities to study abroad were limited and trusted guidance was difficult to find. At just thirteen years old, she made a promise to herself that she would pursue higher education overseas. It was an ambitious dream for her back then. Financial limitations, limited information, and uncertainty made the path far from being straightforward for a girl who lives in the countryside. Yet rather than giving up, she spent years researching scholarship opportunities, learning about international education systems, and preparing herself for opportunities that often seemed out of reach.

In 2016, she took the first step toward that dream by moving alone to Tokyo to study Japanese. Like thousands of international students, she quickly discovered that studying abroad was about much more than gaining admission to a school. It meant adapting to a new language, embracing an unfamiliar culture, managing financial responsibilities, and building confidence in an entirely new environment. Those experiences became the foundation of our J'Hesperus. They gave us a deep understanding that every student's journey extends far beyond the classroom. Success requires preparation, mentorship, resilience, and continuous support at every stage.

After arriving in Japan, during my seven years there, from university studies to my first job, I witnessed firsthand the severe labor shortage in Japan's labor market. Meanwhile, in my home country of Myanmar, despite having many highly capable young people, the working conditions were not favorable. I had always thought that if I could coordinate this situation, it would be a great benefit to both countries. However, my research during my university years led me to learn about the social problem in Japan where technical trainees/specified skilled workers are forced to work in deplorable conditions. Because I was in a position to view this problem from both sides, I decided at that time to become a bridge between the two countries and solve this social problem. After graduating from university, I joined GU, a global company in fast retailing. However, the coup d'état in Myanmar caused many talented young people to suddenly express their desire to "go abroad!" and "study or work in Japan!" Considering what I could do while in Japan at the time, I decided to launch a free online consulting service for young people. Later, in order to provide full-fledged support to young people in Myanmar, I resigned from GU and established J'Hesperus. I believe that my experience of understanding Japanese society, culture, and education, despite being a Myanmar national, is a great strength. Moving forward, employees from J'Hesperus' Myanmar headquarters and Japan branch will work together to build a win-win relationship between the two countries, striving to fulfill our mission of providing young people in developing countries with abundant choices and hope.

During my time at university, I was overwhelmed by the fascinating nature of the Japanese language, the beauty of Japan, its culture, and the sincerity of the Japanese people. As I enjoy teaching others, I decided to share what moved me so much, and thus I started as a Japanese language teacher. Being proficient in Japanese opens up many future opportunities for me. Likewise, I want to share the Japanese language and its culture to as many Myanmar students as possible through J’Hesperus. A distinctive feature of J'Hesperus is the high level of Japanese language proficiency among our students; 30% have achieved N3 certification and 60% have achieved N4 certification, out of a total of over 300 students. In the future, the entire education department will work to increase the number of students achieving N2 certification.

My reason for working as a member of J'Hesperus is to support the dreams of young people who want to go to Japan, leveraging my experience working in Japan for 3 years and 6 months. I share my knowledge of Japan, gained from living there, with students in Myanmar while working on the daily tasks of the Overseas Business Division. Specifically, my work involves assisting with the application of necessary documents for entry into Japan and supporting procedures for joining companies. Our strength at J'Hesperus lies in the fact that our instructors, who are N1 level Japanese speakers and have experience in Japan, can provide education that anticipates learning and living after arriving in Japan. Furthermore, students can have one-on-one discussions with our CEO, Thwe, who has high expertise in Japanese education, so that they can choose a career path that they are more satisfied with. The entire Overseas Business Division will continue to work even harder to provide diverse opportunities for young people in Myanmar as they envision their future.

In Myanmar, obtaining information from Japan is extremely difficult. However, J'Hesperus has strong ties with its Japanese branch, giving us easy access to information from Japan. Through our daily work, we feel that we are able to provide students who wish to come to Japan with more realistic information each time. Another major strength of J'Hesperus is our ability to provide support after arrival in Japan. We have Japanese directors on staff, so we can confidently advise those who wish to come to Japan. Moving forward, as a member of J'Hesperus, a bridge between Japan and Myanmar, I will continue to strive to provide young people in developing countries with a wealth of choices and hope.
